The rising crypto custody startup Casa has been making headlines for its efforts into promoting the Bitcoin ecosystem. The company’s CTO, Jameson Lopp featured in an interview to discuss Casa’s roadmap and related business decisions. Showing support to the crypto community through his “philosophical viewpoint”, Lopp said,
“If money is this abstract concept that belongs to humanity, then the definition and development of money ought to be an open project where anyone who cares can contribute to it.”
The entrepreneur also noticed Bitcoin’s capability to remain uncensored store of value but highlighted the issue of losing keys as “a fundamental unsolved problem in Bitcoin.” Lopp further added that in order to realize the dream of a fully distributed financial system, the average person must be able to hold their own funds securely. He pointed out that Casa was built to be robust against attacks and accidental losses.
Stressing upon the company’s long term goal, Lopp highlighted that Casa intends to help people have “full control over their data and digital identity.” Moreover, he mentioned that any other sort of decentralized and distributed protocols that come out will be aimed towards empowering people to “take back the power from the trusted third parties and basically run their own services in a way that is a censorship resistant.”
