One of the leading South Korean based tech firm, Samsung announced the addition of a much needed feature to its smartphones. Now Bitcoin will be supported by the Blockchain Keystore Software Development Kit. All the devices in series S10 models (S10e, S10, S10+ and S10 5G), as well as the Note10 and Note10+ devices to be developed in the future will have cryptocurrency wallet.
The SDK links blockchain address to the blockchain store, sign cryptocurrency transactions. Initially, the support is limited only to Canada, Germany, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the U.S. and the U.K.
The platform claims that the Keystore now supports Bitcoin as well as Klaytn, cryptocurrency released by Korean internet giant Kakao. In addition to Bitcoins, Samsung devices will also support Ethereum and Klaytn networks. The extended support makes it easier for cryptocurrency transfer. Samsung is still developing the SDK to support other cryptocurrencies.
The Keystore was first launched in July 2019, which provides account management as well as backup, payment and digital signature facilitation. At the beginning the Keystore supported only Ethereum blockchain.
It is worth noting that recently Samsung expanded SDK with two new services — an AI-powered digital analytics DApp dubbed “Jupiter” and a QR code-based peer-to-peer wallet, “Mars,” . Both the services are integrated in Galaxy S10 and newer versions of Samsung smartphones.
The SDK is enabled for developers with preregistration. The application will be released publicly by the end of 2019. However, developers can also use the Beta version.
